Abstract:

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common clinical acute critical illness. The incidence and mortality of AKI in hospitalized patients is increasing year by year, which consumes large amounts of health care resources. How to prevent the occurrence and development of AKI has now become the focus and hotspots of the nephrology research work. Emphasis should be paid on basic researches of not only the epidemiological characteristics including AKI disease spectrum of etiology, etc., but also the pathogenesis, early diagnosis, and clinical treatment. Besides, evidence-based national multi-centeral, large sample, and prospective medical research on AKI prevention and treatment should be conducted. These will be of great significance on the prevention of and prognosis of AKI. In this paper, we have made a review and outlook on current progress of domestic and international study of the pathogenesis as well as the status of diagnosis and treatment of AKI.
