Abstract:

The hemoglobin (Hb) level of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) can fluctuate frequently in a short period of time, so even if the temporarily detected Hb value is within the treatment target range, the patient′s true Hb level may still be higher or lower than the recommended target level due to frequent fluctuations. At present, the relationship between Hb variability (Hb-Var) and the prognosis of patients with CKD is still inconclusive. This article reviewed recent research progress to explore the relationship between Hb-Var and the prognosis of CKD patients.

Key words: Chronic kidney disease, Hemoglobin variability, Prognosis
