Abstract:

Objective

To analyze the effect of cold dialysis mode in preventing intradialytic hypotension.

Methods

The databases were retrieved including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), etc. Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, the literatures received screening, quality evaluation, and data extraction. RevMan 5.3 software was used for meta-analysis.

Results

A total of 38 studies were included, involving 994 patients and a total of 9653 dialysis sessions. The results of meta-analysis showed that cold dialysis mode reduced the risk of intradialytic hypotension(RR=0.50, 95%CI: 0.42-0.59, P<0.001)without reducing the adequacy of dialysis (MD=0.02, 95%CI: -0.02-0.05, P=0.43). The cold dialysis mode increased both the postdialysis systolic blood pressure (MD=11.26, 95%CI: 7.45-15.08, P<0.001) and the postdialysis diastolic blood pressure (MD=3.08, 95%CI: 0.78-5.38), P=0.009).

Conclusion

Cold dialysis could lower the risk of intradialytic hypotension, increase the postdialysis blood pressure without reducing the dialysis adequacy.
