Abstract:

Hemodialysis equipments include hemodialysis machines and reverse osmosis water treatment system. It is an important process to disinfect the hemodialysis equipments properly so as to ensure safety and reduce complications in dialysis patients. Disinfection of hemodialysis equipments belongs to the intermediate level disinfection, meaning that it can kill micro-organisms except spore.As the endotoxin and its debris can pass through the dialysis membranes and enter the blood, proper disinfection must be applied to prevent bacteria reproduction and avoid biofilm formation so that the endotoxin production can be minimized. Hemodialysis machines can be disinfected by means of chemical disinfection, hot water disinfection，and/or hot chemical disinfection. Reverse osmosis water treatment system is usually disinfected mainly by chemical disinfection and/or hot water disinfection.
