Progress of research on prevention and treatment of acute kidney injury in the elderly

Abstract:

The incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in the elderly has increased yearly. The clinical features and pathogenesis of AKI in the elderly are special, and associated with the special structure and function of the aging kidney, complications, and so on. Despite continual improvement in treatment measures, the prognosis of AKI in the elderly has not been significantly improved. This present review focused on the progress of evidence-based research on the prevention and treatment of AKI in the elderly, in order to provide guidance for its clinical diagnosis and treatment, and improve its prognosis.
