Abstract:

Metabolomics is a new type of omics for identifying and quantifying the small molecule metabolites, and reflects the real-time pathophysiological conditions in the living organisms. Renal disorders have a wide-ranging influences on circulating metabolites since the kidney is a vital organ for metabolite handling. In recent years, metabolomics has increasingly been used in chronic kidney disease research to discover new biomarkers for early diagnosis or prediction of progression, and to explore the kidney disease pathogenesis.
