Abstract:

Since its discovery in China in December 2019, the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has now broken out in 213 countries around the world, affecting more than 5.4 million people and causing the death of nearly 350, 000 people. WHO has defined it as a global pandemic. In addition to respiratory system involvement, COVID-19 was also accompanied by other organs injuries, especially in severely ill patients, some of whom showed kidney damage manifesting as hematuria, proteinuria, and increased levels of blood urea nitrogen or serum creatinine. The incidence of acute kidney injury in critically ill patients was high and it affected their prognosis. This article reviewed the epidemiology, clinical features, pathogenesis, pathological manifestations, treatment, and prognosis of kidney injury in COVID-19 patients, hoping to provide relevant information for the prevention and control of COVID-19 from the perspective of nephrology.
