Abstract:

Ultrasound is a non-invasive, convenient, economical, and highly reproducible auxiliary diagnostic technique, which has important application value in the preoperative and postoperative evaluation of vascular access in hemodialysis patients. However, grassroots medical institutions may not be able to conduct timely and effective examinations for patients due to a shortage of ultrasound professionals. The emergence of the fifth generation mobile communication technology (5G) enables higher-level ultrasound physicians, by means of remote robotic ultrasound technology, to perform real-time ultrasound examinations for patients in remote areas. This review mainly explored the application value of 5G remote robotic ultrasound technology in evaluating vascular access in hemodialysis patients.

Key words: Remote robotic ultrasound, Hemodialysis, Vascular access
