Abstract:

More and more evidences show that acute kidney injury (AKI) not only causes kidney damage, but also affects other distant organs, and even triggers multiple organ dysfunction, which is an important reason for the high mortality of AKI. Among them, the central nervous system damage caused by AKI cannot be ignored. The high mortality and long hospital stay of critically ill patients with AKI are closely related to neurological complications. Therefore, the brain damage caused by AKI is a research hotspot at present. This article summarized the basic and clinical research progress of brain damage caused by AKI.

Key words: Acute kidney injury, Brain damage, Multiple organ dysfunction
